Comments:I joined H&S 3-1 S-4 just prior to the redeployment from Chu Lai to Da Nang during May 1966 from K-3-1 (pls see K-3-1 for additional comments). My S-4 was a LDO Korean War Recon Marine by the name of Capt. Winston who ironically took command of K-3-1 from Capt "Speedy" Gonzales. Rotated out of country during November 1967 as a Sergeant. Like many of us at that time never thought I would stay in well 26 years later to the day I retired as a MGySgt 0491 on June 21, 1989. I entered our beloved Corps on my birthday and left on my birthday that was on a Thursday and my numerical replacement became a Marine the next day at MCRD for that is how we live on. SEMPER FI to those fine Marines of H&S Company 3-1 who have followed after us. Long live our CORPS and those who have served, are serving and will serve in H&S Company. Those of our brothers who have paid the ultimate price live on in our hearts and minds. THEY WILL ALWAYS BE WITH US!!!!!!! Served with H&S Co 3/1 from 4/66 to 11/67, S-4, 0311.
