Comments:update-Spent the first 3 1/2 months on mess duty and S-4 Maint in Chu Lai, then in May I went to Danang into India Co, 3rd Bn, 1st Mar Reg, Tennesee's (1st) platoon as Al Johnson's replacement. Al was wounded twice on operation Union and my first big operation was Union II. (I later followed in Al's shadow when I started working for the Dept. of Defense in 1987 in Sterling Hgts, MI) Somewhere around October 67 we were put aboard the USS Valley Forge as a Battalion Landing Team went to the Philipines for two weeks and then around Feb 67, I was gettng short. Bruce William Monska took my place as 1st Platoon Radio Operator, then Bruce was killed in Quang Tri, just before I came back home. I know because I was called to the bow of the ship to ID his body. Annnnd...still remember going on R & R with John "Legs" Thompson in Bangkok. What-a-guy. Weeks....you're quite a guy too!-- Served India Co 3/1 from 1/67 to 2/68 1st Plt.
