Comments:Company radio operator for Lt. Olsen then Lt Oconnor then reassigned to S-1 (H&S Company) office and worked under Lt Lum until returning to MCRD San Diego (played football for the Marines and worked in the Depot Personnel Office)until February of 1970. Participated in Operations Taylor Common, Mameluke Thrust, Hastings Prairie, Dewey Canyon, and Meade River. Awarded the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat "V" while stationed at MCRD San Diego. Proud to have participated in combat with leaders by example such as Sgt's William Dodson and Rich Ahern. The two months we spent in An Hoa in early 1969 could not be described as a day at the beach. My father, Louis Buell Sr. was a WWII Marine particpating in battles on Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian, and Okinowa, he received the Purple Heart and Silver Star decorations. My son Paul Buell was a 3rd generation Marine, serving at Marine Corps Air Station, New River until December of 2001. I have been an IBM Business Partner for the past 30 years and my hobby is bodybuilding and racing Shelby and Boss Mustangs in vintage races. Served with Kilo Co 3/1 from 8/68 to 9/69, 3rd Platoon - S1 Office. 0311.
